Harley and Special K Photography in south Charlotte

When I mention Harley and Special K you probably think motorcycles and cereal. Wrong. These are kitties although if the truth be told, if I went into the garage I could photograph a motorcycle. Harley and Special K's mom is a friend of mine and she owns two Harley's. One has 4 legs and the other has 2 wheels. :) Harley has been a little under the weather lately. I think he has enjoyed spending his time looking out the window. You can see in the 4th photo that he seems to be holding his left paw up too. Today is the first day I've noticed it and luckily his mom will be home later today to check on him. He seemed very happy to pose for his portrait and I got some cute shots of him.

Special K was most interested in eating and then roaming around. I wish I would've had an assistant with me to play with Special K so I could get some photos of that. She loves to play... she is still all kitten! Fun times the past few days with these two!

Mother's Day gift from my dogs

I got a great Mother's Day gift from my dogs today and Willow and Moose had a great time. First of all, Moose got great news earlier in the week: he is heartworm negative. When adopted him in October, he was HW+. Because he was HW+, we have been restricting his activity. He's been getting "slow kill" heartworm treatment so he isn't supposed to run or jump around because that type of movement could cause the heartworms to break off from his heart, get into his lungs and basically suffocate him. He hasn't been allowed run and zoom around. Until today.

This was all set up perfectly. It was early this morning and I wanted to take some new photos of our dogs so I grabbed my camera and took Willow outside. I think I had snapped 2-3 pictures of her and then Don came down the street, just getting home from his run. Willow got really excited when she saw him. She perked her ears up and I snapped a few of those pictures and then she ran to great him. She is a really big dog to be running fast (and running isn't something she does often or for sustained periods of time.) I am really surprised there isn't a ton of camera shake b/c I think I was laughing at her. I love that I was actually able to get some "action" shots of her.

After Don and Willow got to the driveway, Don started petting her which she LOVES. If you look closely (or perhaps not too closely even), you'll see her fur floating off through the air. I snapped a few more pictures of her looking really silly and really happy.

All the while, Moose is sitting at the front door patiently watching all of this. Don went and let him out (this was the first time he'd been let outside in the front yard.) It isn't something we need to do regularly but he was very well behaved.

He and Willow immediately started posturing and I knew a game of chase was going to ensue. This is the first time they've actually played and acted like dogs in this manner. It made my heart smile. However, our large yellow dog didn't last very long. Fairly soon she was over by me wanting the crazy brown dog that was bouncing around to leave her alone.

One of our neighbors was walking up the street with his dog so we took our dogs Willow and Moose in the house. Both took a nap. :) It was a very nice Mother's Day moment for me. I am so grateful for my Mother's Day gift from my dogs.

Pet sitting in great Charlotte NC weather

I've been doing a lot of pet sitting lately and the weather has been so great, I've had my camera along. I really wish I could work one on one with another photographer familiar with pet photography (hint hint Deb if you ever read this!! :) ) I also could stand to take a class on Photoshop. My Photoshop skills are very limited although youtube is a great resource for helping me figure it out. I've been pet sitting with Fozzy lately and I've struggled to get a decent picture of her. Her canine brothers Ollie and Sunny provide ample opportunities for photos (see previous posts) but for some reason I've not been able to get a good one of her. She prefers to be inside vs outside so I guess that is the main reason. When I've been taking pics of the dogs, we've been outside mostly. Below is one of the better (perhaps the best) photos of her I've taken.

dog sitting

A couple of weekends ago, I was pet sitting for Rollo. I thought I'd posted this picture before but apparently I hadn't. One of my photography goals is to try and capture clear (non-blurry) action shots. When I look at this picture, immediately Taylor Shift's song "shake it off, shake it off" starts going through my head!

pet sitting

Very recently I was pet sitting for Lola, Howie and Otis. Otis is the old guy of the group and while he was still somewhat spry, his family wanted to bring in a companion for Lola. Enter Howie. He is all puppy. Here are a few things Howie did that made me laugh: practically tipping over when he hikes his leg to pee and racing around the den chasing a cat toy. The way he runs through the grass is pretty funny too. He hops. He was very entertaining!

Hero - It was raining just a little bit this morning.  Hero didn't seem to mind today though.  At least it wasn't cold!  He took care of all of his business! Brady & Ferguson - they got to walk around the circle today with one of your neighbors.  They really like seeing her.  They both pooped too!

Sunny & Louis - the boys enjoyed their walk today.  It was nice outside but I still put a sweater on Sunny.  I'm glad I did.  He was still shivering outside.  Sunny pooped today, Louis didn't.

Max - Max was snoozing pretty good when I came in today.  He did get up to go outside and he peed right away.  Yea, no accidents today in the house.  :)

Cleo - We had walked a few houses down from your when your neighbor got home.  (The neighbor that Cleo really likes!)  So, that was pretty much the end of our walk today.  She said hello to Cleo and then Cleo had to sit and watch her go inside.  She'd walk a little bit after that but she'd turn around frequently to see if she'd come back outside.  She didn't but Cleo did get to see your other neighbor with the big bird.  She seemed pretty happy about that too.  She did manage to pee a couple of times and poop too in between her stalking :)  haha!

Hero - Hero enjoyed our walk today.  The weather wasn't too cold and it wasn't raining. Grace - It was nice to see Grace again.  I fed her and of course she was happy about that!  I also fed Max and the fish.... (I can't remember the fish's name, Nemo?  I know it is something along those lines!)

Brady & Ferguson - we made it around the circle 2 times today.  I worked on some leash training with the boys.

Max - Max was standing up when I came in today.  He had peed on the towels so needless to say, he didn't have to go when I took him outside.  He got up and down the stairs really well today!

Cleo - Miss Cleo and I took a nice walk up and around the park today.

Dusty - bless Dusty's heart.  I confused  him today.  We walked outside and he pooped pretty quickly then of course I realized I didn't have a poop bag on me.  We walked back into the house so I could get one and Dusty thought it was dinner time.  He was confused when we went back outside!
