Blogging or texting, that is the question. I started this blog with the intention of using it as a way of my clients to check in and read about their pets while they're away on vacation or traveling for work. That was 6 years ago. I wasn't texting 6 years ago. As a pet owner, when I travel, I really appreciate getting texts from my pet sitter letting me know how my dogs are doing. I've started doing that with my clients who request it. Because of that, I find that I am not updating the blog as regularly. I wish I could say that I felt like I have time to do both (and I probably should make time to do both) because I imagine some people like to read about other people's pets not just their own but if I've texted a client an update, I generally don't blog about them too. That is my dilemma.... blogging or texting? Which one or both? I believe the answer should be both.
Moose, part hound?
So here are pictures of Moose and Ollie. We adopted Moose from Lab Rescue of NC. He is 7. We've been trying to figure out what he is mixed with. Ollie pictured on the left is (I think) a Tree Walker Coonhound. Moose, we are fairly certain is part hound. He has longer ears than a lab, shorter fur, and longer legs. In this picture his ears look longer than Ollie's. I'm not sure if that is because Ollie's are cocked a little bit. Moose is just longer and leaner than most labs I know. His personality also reminds me a lot of Ollie.... they can both get into some trouble if allowed :) which also reminds me of my first dog Sloan and she was a lab and wemieraner mix. She was crazy wild until she was about 8. I was hoping that Moose might not have the lab shedding gene. Unfortunately he does. We still love him and all his craziness!

Happy Holidays!
Happy Holidays from my house to yours. We've had Moose for almost 3 months now. He is a really good dog (most of the time.) He learns easily and he walks nicely at a heel when I walk him alone. Trying to get him to walk at a heel when I have both he and Willow is hard.... I really prefer walking them separately but I hate leaving Willow home so she usually comes along too. Christmas morning and day will most likely be fun and hard for Moose. Given his love of food and anything in a box, he will be spending quite a bit of time baby gated in. We have no presents under our tree... they're all in my closet with the door closed otherwise Moose would have them all opened. We will give him presents to open tomorrow. I'll video it... I hope nothing gets broken b/c I am sure he will be over the top excited! Moose. Moose-a-fis. Moose Moose. We're still trying to think up a good nickname. Willow's are: Whittle, Widdle, Widdle Waddle.
Merry Christmas Eve
Merry Christmas Eve! Duck - Duck is doing just fine. I was surprised that she chirps more than she quacks. Perhaps as she gets older she'll quack? So much for me to learn about ducks or in this case, Duck.
Butter - She was meowing by the door when I came in this morning. Yesterday I had to wake her up but not this morning. She is eating well which I am so happy about!
Sox - Sox was waiting for me by the window by the front door today. It was 7:30am so it wasn't even that late but she was hungry so I fed her right away!
These two kitties and duck say Merry Christmas Eve!
Happy Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving to all! Here is a note about our visits and what I think they might each say if asked what they are thankful for: Molly and McKenzie - McKenzie has loved her walks and hopefully she will settle down since we got the beeping on the security system to stop. I did let Molly off leash this morning so she could take care of all of her business. I let her off last night but she started to go over to the right side of the house so I called her back. Poor thing... now this morning I realize that is where she poops. I didn't know there was a fence over there and it was so dark, I didn't want her to leave my sight. We generally don't let dogs off leash in unfenced areas and especially since it was my first time seeing them last night, I was overly paranoid about it. :) Molly is thankful to anyone who will pet her and McKenzie is particularly thankful this morning that the beeping of the security system has stopped. She is also thankful for anyone who walks her.
Hampton and Blitten - Hampton is enjoying his walks. He is eating well and I've been giving him all of his medicine. Blitten is eating well too - both her hard and wet food. Hampton is thankful that the rain has stopped. Blitten is thankful for anyone who pets her. They both say Happy Thanksgiving!
Harley and No Name - Harley hasn't been as interested in playing. No Name has more than made up for that though. She is always up for playing.... unless of course she is eating!! Harley is thankful for comfy cozy warm places to sleep and No Name is thankful for food and toys.
Sparky - This morning she wanted to her Thanksgiving breakfast before even going outside. As soon as she finished she went zooming around the yard. Sparky is thankful for being able to be outside.
Simba - Simba always likes to it before going outside (just like Sparky) so I fed him this morning and gave him his pills before we went outside. He walked around a little bit and he took care of all of his business. Simba is thankful for food.
I hope all of you have a safe and very Happy Thanksgiving.
Hampton and Blitten
Hampton and Blitten are both doing just great. Blitten is loving meal time and getting pet. Hampton is enjoying his walks.... or at least he was until last night. It hasn't rained when I've been with him in quite a while but it started last night and it is fairly obvious that he isn't crazy about the rain. He just wanted to go out and potty and then come right back in. I made him walk some.... until he took care of all of his business. He was more than happy to turn around and get back inside the house as quickly as possible. It was still raining this morning too so we took a shorter walk - just long enough for him to do all his business. According to the forecast, it is supposed to stop raining this afternoon. I hope it does by our next visit so he will want to take a longer walk. Fingers crossed.
Hampton and Blitten are very thankful for being inside pets.
