Carolina Paws Wine Tasting Event

Who doesn't love a glass of wine?  Join us on August 27 from 5:30-7:30pm at Cosmos on Rea Road for a wine tasting event benefiting A New Leash of Life. 8420 Rea Road, Charlotte, NC 28277

The cost is $30 which includes light appetizers and a variety of red and white wines.  All funds raised will go to provide much-needed medical care, food, and supplies for our dogs.

Together we will help make possible the rehabilitation of dogs and inmates––giving them both the unconditional love they have perhaps never before known.  Our dogs receive 8-9 weeks of basic and some advanced training from inmates who have specially qualified and themselves been trained.  Following their training, each dog will graduate and be adopted into loving, permanent homes and four new dogs will join the program.  For information on adopting one of these very special dogs or any available cat or dog, please visit the website at www.CAROLINAPAWS.com.

Another rescued Michael Vick dog is adopted

Best Friends Animal Society is a sanctuary in Utah that takes in needy pets most of which are deemed not-adoptable.  They're a grassroots effort with the goal of placing dogs and cats who were considered "unadoptable" into good homes, and they want to reduce the number of unwanted pets through effective spay and neuter programs but they also have other animals such as horses, rabbits and birds to name just a fewBest Friends Animal Society is guided by a simple philosophy: kindness to animals builds a better world for all of us. Best Friends got involved and applied to obtain several of the Michael Vick pit bulls to save them from being put down.  I don't remember how many they got but the first one has now been adopted into her forever home.  (Other of Vick's pit bulls that went to other rescue groups have been adopted, this is the first from Best Friends to be adopted.)  Click the link to read more about Halle and see her picture (she's the black pit) at Best Friends Animal Society website.
